Trap Shooting

Lookaway Golf Club as one of the amenities for its members, includes the winter sport of Trap Shooting on the property from December through March.

The sport is in some ways a replacement for the game where the targets were live pigeons.  Indeed, one of the names for the clay targets used in trap shooting is clay pigeons.  Trap shooting has been a sport since at least 1793, which is appropriate given the history and age of the Lookaway property.

The Lookaway Trap Registry shoots every Sunday, beginning in December each year, extending the comraderie of the golf season throughout the winter months.  A Trap Shooting Waiver needs to be signed by each guest of a member prior to going out.  The Registry also participates in shooting competitions with other clubs as well.
